Love, Compassion and Empathy

Thursday, February 5th, 2009

A few words from Timothy Burgin, Founder & Executive Director of
YogaBasics.com:

While listening to the daily news broadcasts of trouble, turmoil and worldly economic woes, it is easy to slip into the mental tendency (vritti) of worry and anxiety, known as cinta in Sanskrit. The Tantric yogis tell us that cinta emanates from the heart chakra (anahata). Cinta is felt most when the energy of the heart center is weak, and dwelling on cinta will only weaken the heart chakra further. To counteract feelings of worry and anxiety it is best to emphasize the opposite qualities of trust and confidence (adhimukti) as well as cultivating the positive and strengthening aspects of the heart center, such as love, compassion, and empathy.

Chiropractic Results: Yoga’s Role

Monday, January 12th, 2009

As most of you know by now, I believe that yoga compliments chiropractic extremely well. I have always promoted Minneapolis Community Education classes as an inexpensive yoga option for practitioners of all levels. The course catalog is now available and online registration has begun. My experience has been that it is best to register early, as several of the instructors/classes are quite popular and fill up quickly. So if you’ve been on the fence about starting yoga, now is the time!
