Yoga For The Athlete In All Of Us

Monday, April 5th, 2010

If you’ve been a patient of mine for any length of time, you’ve most likely heard my thoughts on how well yoga helps with both injury prevention and injury rehabilitation. On that topic, yoga instructor Claire Petretti has written a very nice little article for active.com entitled “Why Every Athlete Should Practice Yoga”. For those of you thinking that you don’t exactly fall into the category of “athlete”, remember that daily living requires us all to be athletes to some degree.

Climbing a couple of flights of stairs, picking up a grandchild or working a long day on a computer may not seem taxing enough to result in pain or injury. But, every day in my clinic, I find myself using chiropractic and acupuncture to treat patients for aches and pain associated with activities of daily life. To prevent these injuries, remember that yoga is an excellent way to train the athlete in all of us.
